Day -14 - I set off from Waterloo, Belgium, heading towards the French border. 14 days of solo riding to meet Gion in Sofia and complete the Mudmud team! It struck me as odd that all these little Belgian towns are somehow part of the journey to Afghanistan. I spent the night at a cozy B&B in the Champagne/Lorraine region of France. Got a late start and only covered 250 km on my way to Switzerland. Tomorrow’s going to be a tough day of riding.

Day -13, I rode 500 km through the stunning plains of France, making my way through the Franche-Comté region towards the Jura and Lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland. It was an incredible day with gorgeous weather and views. I really love France! However, in all these charming, deserted French countryside towns, the coffee shops are always closed. You can find lots of engine oil for the farming equipment, but coffee? Nope. I managed to grab an instant coffee while refueling.
